And a big thank you to all of the terrific Mastiff breeders who participate!

I will be conducting breeder interviews. I'll do the initial interview in private, and when we're done I will integrate it into a thread. After it's posted everyone will have the opportunity to ask questions and/or make comments. Hopefully this will be a fun, wonderful way to meet ethical breeders within the Mastiff community, and give us all a unique opportunity to share and learn from each other! If anyone has any suggestions for future interviews please let me know. A link has been provided for each interview that will take you directly to the thread.  Thank you!!

Nancy,
You really did a GREAT job!!  Thank you and thank you again for being so patient and doing a fabulous job of posting the interview.  I didn't even know you were putting that last part in, you put your stamp on it as the interviewer!  Watch out Barbara Walters!

That sounds like a wonderful idea.  It would be nice to get different peoples perspectives and find out which direction they are heading and why, etc.

Hey Nancy, I'm not a Mastiff breeder, but I do play one on TV...LOL..

Oh this is a wonderful way to get some newsy news out there. May I suggest some OLDIE but GOODIE Mastiff folks from the chilly NE area?..oh..too late, I already did..haha.

I commend you for all this work, and look forward to reading these stories. We have "Meet the Breeder" in MCOA Journal, and what a treat they were...reading how people got started..and their ultimate contributions to our breed..not just making more, making better ..

thanks for chatting and sharing..

hugs all around,

Gina (breeder challenged from CT)

These interviews are so interesting to me. Thank you Mrs Erdahl for putting these together and posting them here on the forum.

I have read other interviews such as the one done of the late Jim Zellen. What a learned man that was lost all too soon.

Well Nancy, I read and enjoyed every one of them, and have been wondering when you were going to do another? Please?

Thanks Barrie.
I currently can only do the interviews via email, which I think excludes some breeders who would so much rather have an interview by phone.
I don't have any way to tape a phone conversation, though, so that limits me. I actually did buy a phone conversation recorder device on eBay, but apparently you have to be smarter then the darned thing to figure out how to work it, and as it didn't come with instructions I am at a loss.
Also I have a real job now, my computer-playing time has been cut drastically. I do enjoy doing these interviews though and am looking forward to my next one!
I'm open to suggestions, too! If anyone would like to have an interview just shoot me an email or PM or give me a call

Hi

This is a great thread! I hope more breeders will participate in the future. I find this to be very helpful, since we hope to soon buy our very first Mastiff puppy, and we have been researching breeders.

Old School Mastiffs?
I was unable to read that interview. An error message comes up saying no thread could be found. Is there another link to the interview?

Much thanks!
Pam

Hi Pam,
Try the link again. Jann very wisely has saved each interview in PDF format so we'll never lose them. I replaced the link above so it should work now.
I'll try to keep up with them as the threads fall off.

My next interview is on it's way!!

Olga, I enjoyed your very thoughtful and touching comments. And loved, loved photos of such typey Mastiffs.
So nice to hear credit given to those generous and wise enough to mentor.
