Thanks Bes!  I'm probably going to be obnoxious and bump this every other day or so.  I truly believe that we need to have a "trademark" that we all use.  I hope others join in on this - it's important to do our part.  Thanks so much!

How about pinning it so it stays up top?

This really disgusts me!!  They are saying "mastiffs" not even "American Mastiff."  Its so misleading to the unknowing.

I have a real problem with this "warning". It implies that all breeders that happen to believe in a different version are unscrupulous people only out to make a buck. Not only does not one person on this entire planet know everyone's character but to assume that one does makes one ignorant. It is an arrogance that isn't needed in the world today. We all have enough strife in the world so please don't assume to know everything about everyone. There are BAD breeders of EVERY breed but there are also honest good people out there who just want to share what they think is a wonderful thing.

If you want to protect the beed that is wonderful but don't assume to know all those breeders you speak of.

Rather than get into a major debate with you, unless your breed becomes recognized by the AKC it's really not an issue as far as I am converned, cause AM are just a mixed breed.

Have a nice day.

Meathead,
No one is assuming anything. It's a fact - a mix is a mix and different from a purebred.

Anyways.....I wrote some stuff and couple a paragraph what my thoughts were. However, when I went to click on the "post message" button, something else happened and it did not post.

I am not gonna retype it becouse it would problably be better left off.

I will say this: Mixing breeds and calling it "american" is not all "AMERICAN."

wikipedia.com states; "There are 11 authorized breeders in North America which comprise the American Mastiff Breeders Council and whose dogs' bloodlines can be traced exclusively back to Flying W Farms."

Therefore this is called inbreeding, and cannot be good.

Anhow, Im done.

Hi - I am new and enjoy going over previous threads and know that this one is kind of old, however, I was hoping for everybody's opinion on Gladiators and advice as to when I am approached regarding them.  At Petco here, somebody that works there raises them and was using my Mastiffs as an example for the difference between them and talking about how great they are.  I was so offended and told them that as a Mastiff owner and lover, that breeding is not thought highly of.  Some people around here are even advertising them as Mastiffs that don't drool.  Any thoughts?

Hi Alissa, No, this is different than the american mastiffs, gladiators are mastiffs bred with gladiators.

Someone is advertising a litter from a mastiff bitch bred to a spinone Italiano. I've tried to contact them and other Spin folks are trying to identify the origin of the spinone. Mastiff breeders might want to look at the ad and see if they recognize the name of the ad owner.
