Hello everyone! We are Kim and Dan and we live in SW Ohio. We have 4 children ages 26, 21, 8, and 7, we are also adopting from China. We have 3 british shorthairs, 1 Chi, and 1 American Mastiff. I cannot tell you how happy I am to have found this forum. I have spent hours reading and found great info here on our AM. Even some kind words of advice, which I greatly appreciate. We have some issues with our AM and this forum has been a great insight! Thank you!

Hi My name is Steve and I just got my first mastiff.  Her name is Daisy and she is 11 weeks old today.  She is fawn and weighs 26lbs.  I need some advice on housebreaking her.  I am crate training (which is going well), however when I take her out she goes and then when we come in she relieves herself w/ in 10 min. of being inside.  Any advice on what I can do or what I am not doing right?  I have been checking out the message board for about 2 months while I was waiting to get my new pup.  I have really enjoyed the website and thought this would be the best place to get advice!!

Hi, all!  My name is M.C. Kay, my husband and I have owned mastiffs for 10 and 1/2 years; studied them for over a year before our first one and have owned a total of two during that time.  We are lucky enough to have a 10 and 1/2 year old boy, Owen (CH. Brookside's Worth the Weight CGC) and a nearly two year old sweetie pie girl  Patience ( Sherwood's Anticipatience).  I work as a certified veterinary technician 20 hours a week; Ron teaches culinary arts and is a chef at a local restaurant.
We also have a rescue mini schnauzer, Pikachu  and six indoor kitties ( Stinky, Horton, Nubby, Fubu, Puddy Smykus, and Peapod).
We showed and finished Owen; owner handled by me.  I am currently working on showing Patience.  I love handling my own dogs and am getting better and better as time goes by!
I'm happy to have found this forum and hope to meet new mastiff folks and enjoy these interesting and lively discussions!
Warmly,
M.C.Kay

Welcome M.C., Ron, Owen, and the fabulous Miss P!  Glad to see you here!  Are your feet touching the ground yet, or are you still walking on sunshine?

Hello my name is Debbie.  My husband and I live in Shelby, Michigan with our 3 kids.  They are all fawn English Mastiffs.  Anna is 4, Riley is 13 months and Gracie Mae will be 9 weeks on May 13, 2007.  Last weekend we made the trip to St. Patrick's Mastiffs to pick up our little Gracie Mae (she was Perdy out of Bubba and Sheeba's litter).  Last Memorial Day weekend we made the same trip to pick up Riley (he was Porky out of Pistol and Fanny's litter).  Anna is our first mastiff (she is from Ohio).  We got all 3 of our babies at exactly 8 weeks (because we could not stand to wait any longer). We are hooked on Mastiffs-especially Mastiffs from Tamara at St. Patricks.  We are so impressed with the quality and temperament of her dogs and her knowledge of the breed.   Thank you so much Tamara.  I will post pictures soon.  Thanks for taking the time to read about my babies.  Debbie

Hello Everyone!  I will introduce myself as well, since I am brand new to this board.  My name is Jackie, I am 27 years old and live in Oklahoma.  I am thinking about getting a Mastiff and I am very interested in learning more about this magnificent breed of dog.  I think they are so beautiful!!!  So, I was hoping some of you could give me some information if you don't mind.  Like, do they need a large yard to run & play, what I need to look for when choosing one, should I get male or female, how do I find a reputable breeder,  ect...

Any information would be VERY much appreciated!

Jackie

Welcome Jackie.  What a great place to be to start your search.  As you read thru some of the many great threads on this board alot of the breeders have thier kennel names and websites listed below their names - click on them and most have great sites that talk about a lot of your questions. Good luck and start some threads asking questions - you'll get  alot of answers.

Hello!

My name is Gabrielle, my husband Eddie & I are owned by two mastiffs (and countless other fur & feathered children).  We live on Long Island in NY, our boys are Gunner (Almost 21 months) & Rocco (Almost 9 months).  They are the best of friends - Rocco is Gun's permanent shadow!  We couldn't imagine life without them (nor would we want to).

Balou's Beth invited us to the board - we are HUGE Balou fans (Beth is pretty great, too!). Thanks Beth!

Thanks for having us
