One of the good things about breeding is that it's one endeavor in which you can have your cake and eat it too....it's just a matter of patience and making  knowledgeable and wise choices. Unfortunately many people start breeding before they are knowledgeable and wise enough to make good choices. Get a puppy, love your puppy and learn, learn, learn...make friends, connections and build a strong reputation as someone who is earnest about the breed....No one will be able to purchase a great foundation; a great looking puppy with a great pedigree from a great breeder to mentor you unless you have proven yourself IMO.
This is my strategy anyhooo My future goals include producing Great Mastiffs.

Has anyone purchased the Devine software lately? I tried to email to ask a few questions and the email came back as undeliverable.
Any feedback on the program itself?

It's an important tool for tracking lineage and can be of interest to both breeders & fanciers!

Has anyone thought about what to do when your favorite stud is deceased and you only have limited frozen left from him?

Do you use your last frozen on a cross or would you inbreed if possible using a daughter or grand-daughter of your stud?

Well now it's possible to clone the dog, if he was that important.

Financial concerns also enter into the decision for some.

Going back to a daughter does not insure a favorable outcome and may in fact diminish future sperm vigor.

It all depends on what one is attempting to control.
