I too loved Beau Ideal.  I am gonna toot my own horn here and brag a bit because I worked very hard for this, but here goes.  I finally found some frozen sperm from Bredwardine lines without Lion behind it.  The father is Linebred from Forfoot Prince Igor(her father).  Igor son bred to an Igor daughter.  The mother is old Farnaby and Gildasan(Also behind Beau Ideal).  Beau Ideal is the type bitch I am trying to capture with the breeding.  I do not want to jinx myself, but I believe she is pregnant.  I am so glad you posted that picture because that is similiar to the foundation of Surazal!!!  I just hope they are healthy and Typey.  It is a good outcross for me because there is no Medicine Man behind it anywhere.  Hopefully they will all be healthy and good representatives.  There should be some hybrid vigor thrown in there too.  Thank you Jean Ancell for this sperm.  Karen, if you are out there looking, thank you very much for the help in finding that.  Karen is from ToadHall in NZ.  She is a wonderful lady.  Thanks Again!

Steve, as you are probably aware - I need to begin to do more of my "own" research - that's a good thing.  I know how to google and surf around - but it takes me a long time to really land in a good spot. Where do you find these things or does it take you awhile before you land on them as well?  Just curious if you could give me some pointers when researching.

Thanks

There are books on mastiff history and many MCOA newsletters with fine articles in them. See if you can get back dated issues.

We are after all visual beings. Look at as many photos of mastiffs on the net that you can find. After a bit you'll start to understand what to look for. Go to dog shows and see the reasons why one dog is put up over another.

It takes time and that's the fun in learning about something you enjoy from the start! It's the journey, not the destination!

I'll take a Paddington and a Noah - okay, Boulder too :-) but I bet that Lone Ranger grew up to be the most handsome of all - but...  I already have three Lone Rangers - thus, the circutry overload at times - the fourth and fully overgrown Lone Ranger - well he's late for dinner and its burning!

Thanks for the historical pics Steve - somehow I'm absorbing them much better this time.... less static on my computer lines.

1st - Farnaby Floating Voter (Baxter)
Well balanced dog of good size. Good length of back and well angulated. Strong front and deep, well sprung chest. Head of correct proportions, dark eye, pigmented ears and muzzle. Moved with both drive and power and in the peak of condition. Lovely to see on the move with a firm topline. He is a bit hard to control as he enjoys life all of the time. However, I do not expect a mastiff to be a statue, and like to see a bit of character consistent with being able to assess. Happy to award him the
