First i want to say hello to everyone.
I have a 8 month old English Mastiff/Rottweiler named Leo. He currently weighs 110 lb. I have been feeding him Diamond large breed dog food since he was 6 months. 3-8oz. cups 3 times a day. The problem is he will eat 3 cups in about 1 min. or less. does not chew it. and acts like hes starving all the time. I don't know how to correct this. any suggestions?

My Dad always put big rocks in the dog bowl with the food (too big to fit in their mouth). Then after awhile he would start taking the rocks out one by one. It taught the dogs to slow down.

Hi, and welcome!

It sounds like you have a couple of problems going on:  The quantity of food your pup needs to maintain a healthy weight, and the fact that he's 'inhaling' his food. These may be related. Not to be gross, but when you are clearing away his poo, do you notice a lot of undigested/partially digested food?

To slow down his eating, I think Sally's suggestion is a good one. You might also give him portions of his meal frozen in a Kong toy.

If you haven't done so, I would also have him checked by your vet for parasites or other health problems.
